On one such day, when I had to shop, I went to a saree shop.
The boy in the shop was showing me the sarees. I did not find a single shop
that fit my trill. Suddenly, a lady sitting next to me rejected a saree. The
boy who was showing her the saree pushed the pile that she had seen and
rejected towards me My eyes fell on a saree in that bundle. I immediately
picked if and asked its price. That lady turned around and said “I’ve taken it”
and grabbed that saree. I let it be, selected and another saree and came to the
cash counter. I found that lady also there with a saree in her hand. It wasn’t
the one I had picked. So I asked her “didn’t you buy the saree that took from
me” she simply said ‘no’.
It surprised me a bit when I showed in she picked it nay
grabbed it and yet when I let go she didn’t take it. This gave a beautiful
insight into human character and it left me wondering a bit for sometime.
Think on this issue how many times we’ve felt we need to
have what others have? Is it because what ‘others have’ looks haveable? Or is it
that we always want what others have? Either way, it’s confusing and silly to
me. But still, the question still remains, why are we that way? Because of
simple reasons like:
1. We don’t have tastes and likes of our own.
2. We are not confident of our own taste and like.
3. Because of this lack of confidence on the taste of self,
WE rely on others taste and presume that if they selected it. It’s got to be a
better one.
4. And I need to go for better one, so I will go by what
others choose.
5. By default, I presume or live by the law that others are
happy because of all that they posses. This is the cause of jealousy.
6. Because others are happy, It is because of what they own.
7. So I need to own what they own to be happy.
8. Conclusion looks logical but is fundamentally stupid and
hence the basic of my pain and suffering.
Just close your eyes and go within
