The real student

Vinay had been sitting on the banks of Ganges since night .He was depressed .He had lost all that he had .He was bankrupt .He had no one to look up to .He could count on none .He had come here to end his life .His life which had become both miserable and senseless now .His death would end all his woes. No one would miss him either .All through the night, he had been going through his lives details and easily in the morning he had gone to sleep on the steps.

Now, few voices woke him up .It was still dark .It would be at least one hour later that sun would rise. He saw two people walking towards Ganges .They passed him on the dark they didn’t notice him. They climbed down the steps and were taking bath in the holy river. “But guruji, how can we change our fate when we have nothing in our hands” asked one of the voices. “By getting up and deciding to give life a tough fight” replied the second voice. He recognized second voice. It was swami Gnanatheertha. He was very famous guru with disciples over 1000 and above in his ashram.

He was considered the greatest of living gurus in today’s age.

Vinay became more attentive towards the conversation.
“But how can a person who lost everything get it back guruji with nothing in hand, no one can build an empire “replied apparently the student of swamiji.
Vinay could understand that their topic or arrangement had something to do with fate vs hard work or purusharth .He listened half expecting the answer.
“If the person decides, he can use the dead rat lying there and build a huge empire” replied swamiji as he passed Vinay.

wow moments! Teacher's Day!

wow moments! Teacher's Day!

Anecdote shared from life of one Reiki Channel -

"Wow! It's Teacher's Day! Met one of my early life teachers - my badepapa...he taught me the art of cutting vegetables...I was in say 3rd or 4th class and was cutting vegetables - beans and palak to be specific. He came over to me and one look at the way I cut vegetables and lo! he started shouting at me. I cut vegetables like any 8-9yr old...just cut. And he said "We eat food three ways - first with eyes, then with nose and lastly with mouth. If the way it is served is not good, I have missed on eating with eyes. If the food served hurts the eyes the purpose of eating is 1/3rd missed. Vegetables should be cut very small (beans and palak here) and they should be even - ALWAYS! Many a time I have received praise for my cutting (vegetables esp. beans and palak..) and I owe every praise to my teacher........

That paved way in my life to 'being in awareness' right in the middle of every day activity - boring and routine for most - it became one of the most cherished activity as that got converted into an act of meditation for me. For me, that became the 'me time'. That paved way to logging on to 'state of beingness' and thereby to happiness in the middle of every day activity. What wonderful phase I would go to every single time I cut vegetables....!!!

If one has a 'student quality' he can learn even from a taunt a beautiful meditation technique - my badepappa was that teacher to me! Thanks to him - now and ever!

I went with different types of sweets - all that are his favourite. I didn't give him what I liked or wanted to give. I gave him - all that he liked. Listening to him and looking him relish what he eats, I have come to know of this. "

Lesson we can learn : If we are really grateful to a person, we find excuses to give him what he likes and how he likes. If we really like someone we'll listen to his likes and dislikes in his every act and word. We listen!!!
