On letting go! Curtain rods!

(I have read this story like a million times and each time it gives me a different perspective on the way our emotions work, on right and wrong, on hatred, about people and their way of thinking....and each time one more understanding knocks at my door of learning....i am sure this would help you too....)

Curtain Rods!

She spent the first day packing her belongings into boxes, crates and suitcases.
On the second day, she had the movers come and collect her things.
On the third day, she sat down for the last time at their beautiful dining room table by candle-light, put on some soft background music, and feasted on a pound of shrimp, a jar of caviar, and a bottle of spring-water.
When she had finished, she went into each and every room and deposited a few half-eaten shrimp shells dipped in caviar into the hollow of the curtain rods.
She then cleaned up the kitchen and left... When the husband returned with his new girlfriend, all was bliss for the first few days.
Then slowly, the house began to smell.
They tried everything; cleaning, mopping and airing the place out.
Vents were checked for dead rodents and carpets were steam cleaned.

Air fresheners were hung everywhere. Exterminators were brought in to set off gas canisters, during which they had to move out for a few days and in the end they even paid to replace the expensive wool carpeting.

Nothing worked!!!
People stopped coming over to visit..

Repairmen refused to work in the house.
The maid quit
Finally, they could not take the stench any longer and decided to move.
A month later, even though they had cut their price in half, they could not find a buyer for their stinky house.
Word got out and eventually even the local realtors refused to return their calls.
Finally, they had to borrow a huge sum of money from the bank to purchase a new place.
The ex-wife called the man and asked how things were going.
He told her the saga of the rotting house. She listened politely and said that she missed her old home terribly and would be willing to reduce her divorce settlement in exchange for getting the house
Knowing his ex-wife had no idea how bad the smell was, he agreed on a price that was about 1/10 th of what the house had been worth, but only if she were to sign the papers that very day.
She agreed and within the hour his lawyers delivered the paperwork.
A week later the man and his girlfriend stood smiling as they watched the moving company pack everything to take to their new home........
And to spite the ex-wife, they even took the curtain rods....

What does this story tell you?
What does the shrimp represent to you?
Does it say that to get even we should turn mean like the wife?
Was the wife completely sensible in wanting to continue living in that house?
What does "..and they even took the curtain rods.." at the end mean and represent to you? What did you understand from that?
Where can you apply this story in your life?
Is this a comedy or a sad story?

Spring cleaning - TV rack

Spring cleaning - TV rack

So what does that tell us?

One thing that pleases us loses its sheen in our eyes (only) a few days or weeks later.

Our tastes and preferences change with time – i.e., if the person is normal and growing (in any direction).

“Those who don’t change are like puddles of water that are breeding grounds of harmful bacteria and everything that is harmful to everyone”.

That change is because as we face life, people and situations, we take it’s impact on us. That is what is called psychic impressions. These psychic impressions then create new thought processes and belief systems. That’s why our responses, tolerance, acceptance, tastes in short everything about us changes.

When a person is leading a life without awareness and knowledge of ‘self’ then the change is towards bitterness – most of the time.

But, if the person is aware of the Universal Law of karma and sadhan (of any kind) then his sadhan coupled with his knowledge of the law of karma heals his psychic impressions over time. That causes him to become a better person. This is reflected in the way he addresses people in his life. It also shows in the way he responds to situations in his life now. It is evident in his way of conducting himself and is obvious in the way he does his day-to-day activities too!

His tastes and preferences change.

On spring cleaning!

Ref : https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/2024/11/on-spring-cleaning-task-of-sadhan-for.html

On spring cleaning!

The edges along the walls are dark (smudged).  I cleaned them too as I cleaned each room.

Result: The room looked bright.

The light seemed to reflect more.

Felt light and happy.

Effect on the physical body though was painful. All the scrubbing, mopping and all is very strenuous. My body was in sheer pain.

But the heart was dancing with joy. One example of “When the body and mind cry for what it lost, the soul rejoices for what it gained”.

At such a moment when someone asks me “How are you?”, I reply

“zindagi mein gham hai,

Gham mein dard hai

Dard mein mazaa ahi aur

Maze mein hum hai”

"There is sadness in life

and in that sadness there is pain

in that pain is fun

and I am having fun in life"

Meaning there is enjoyment even in pain and suffering of life.

So you see we are living in ‘multiple planes or levels of consciousness’.

Normally people associate and identify with only the physical body and sometimes with the mind. So they suffer as per the physical body’s state of being. If it cries, people cry, if it is happy, then they ‘think’ they are happy.

But a ‘sadhak’ is one who knows he is not a ‘physical entity’. He knows he experiences through various other mediums too. So, he is aware of this phenomena – “When the body cries, the soul dances”.

Change!

On Change!

Image result for change of seasons quote

Are we comfortable with the known 'devil' than an unknown 'angel'?

'Devil' here meaning the known people (with attitudes we are not comfortable with), jobs that we are complaining about and the situations that make us look like 'poor things!'

'Angel' here means 'unknown yet but good or right people' whom we are not open to receiving in life!
-Job that we dream of getting or desire to work for or say we deserve
-situations that we wish were part of our 'poor sad lives'!?

Image result for change of seasons quotes Are we afraid of change?
If so why?
Are we imagining most of it or is it for real?
What is our 'fear' of change based on?

think, think about it!
