Boy: ‘Naam batati kya’? (May I know your name?)

Girl: ‘Mein itni zhor se laath maroongi ki Abids mein jaake giroge…’! (I’ll kick you so hard that you’ll go and fall in Abids)

Boy: ‘Zaraa dheere se maar sakthe ho kya? Mujhe Begum Bazaar hi jaana hai’? (Can you please kick me just enough to go till Begum Bazaar?)

Had a laugh? Good. Take a break…read it again and then continue reading this.

What can we learn from this conversation and what do we see in this conversation?

A. Girl is in a fit of rage and says something that is basically impossible – ‘…kicking a person with such a force to send him flying for more than 10 Kms…’!

We say things that are unnecessary, irrelevant, hurting and silly too, sometimes. So, we need work on our anger. When we are angry, we should have hold over our anger. We must be angry but at the same time, not let anger take over our senses.

Pranayamam, Meditation on the cause of anger will help us in this direction.

B. Boy maintains his cool and hence manages to change a probable heated argument into a comical one. How?

Because he expects the worst in response to his question. Once we accept the worst, we become cool and are not surprised, and so can calmly think and find a way out of the tricky situation.

This is just an example. Life throws up all unexpected surprises. We lose our calm if unprepared and if we are not accepting it.

An agitated mind sees problem even in an ordinary situation and a calm mind sees a solution in a ‘no hope’ situation.
