Avunu Nizam....

Contd.....

Avunu Nizam - telugu poem....

There is a saying in telugu language that says “పందిని తీసుకొని సింహాసనం మీద కూర్చో పెడితే అదీ మళ్ళి మురికి లోకే వెళుతోంది". These lines or saying always fascinated me since as a kid. Why would someone anoint ‘pit’ as a king? Because the saying says “even if the pig is offered kingship it would rush to live in its shit-hole or dirty muddy pool”. Many years later I came across a beautiful story. I think it is part of Bhagavatam***. Mahavishnu took Avatar as a ‘wild boar’ – Varaha avatar to kill demon called Hiranyakshaka – brother of demon king Hiranyakashyap – father of Prahlad, having killed the demon and his Avatar purpose fulfilled “the Varaha avatar” goes into forest. There he sees other boars enjoying in pile of waste. Identifying himself as one among them ‘Mahavishnu’ too starts enjoying their life-style. This carries on for years and the Gods become tensed as the world without its sustainer – Vishnu is very chaotic. So they chose King of Gods – Indra to go and plead Vishnu to come back. Lord Indra agrees and meets Mahavishnu who has forgotten his real self and come to think himself as ‘pig’ and enjoying their life-style. Indra tried explaining and finding all his talks going waste thought of tempting Vishnu with a promise to take him to heaven. He explains the beauty of heaven assuming Vishnu would be tempted to go with them. But the Lord thought for a while and asked “Will there be shit in heaven?” to which Indra said ‘no’ with a disgust and sweetly Vishnu as pig answered ‘then how is that place more enjoyable than this?’ and went back to his playing in that mud.
There are 2 ways we can take this story and it’s moral.

Me, My guru – Little Patridges and the mighty Ocean – Bhagavatham!

Contd....

Me, My guru – Little Patridges and the mighty Ocean – Bhagavatham!

Your fight can be with your situation.

Your fight can be with your disturbing emotions too! You can be waging war within yourself. You may be facing the inner demons. This fight everyone does alone! Fear would come to us. But like Patridge couple, if we just start the war against the ego, our inner demons and ourselves, then bye and by, we’ll find help from the unknown quarters too. Eventually, we’ll retrieve what we’ve lost.

We’ve lost connection with our soul. We’ve lost ourselves to Maya. We’ll regain our lost kingdom of Heaven. We’ll regain ourselves. We’ll be free from all weaknesses and fear. we’ll be blissful ever after!

God will come then! But, a journey of these 1000 miles starts with the first step!

Do not look at your opponent’s strength.

Do not look at your flaws and weaknesses.

Do not see that you are alone.

Do not be harbouring your negativity on the wrong done to you. Get up. Collect yourself. Take action to correct the wrong.

These were the exact things the Patridge couple did. They didn’t see how mighty the ocean was.

They decided not to let the wrong win.

They fought to right the wrong.

Then, you’ll never feel weak and helpless as humans.

Then, even God will come to your aid.

Arise, awake and stop not ill you reach your goal – Uthishta!” our Guru concluded.

She answered our questions. We were left with no questions – for now!

She gave us our solutions. She showed us the way. But, like the pig, we reveled in our shitty existence. (To understand how Maha Vishnu when took a form of pig was clouded by Maya https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/search?q=vishnu+as+pig)

As long as we embraced our ignorance of our “True Nature” there was no way out of our pain and suffering.

She left us for the day!

We left her place.

Did we all receive all that our Guru gave?

Bless the day when we would!!??

But, today, it remained a wishful thinking!

Concluded....

Fifth step- Is the level of 'Guru tatva' represented by the Guru.

Students in various positions convey - one can learn just by listening to guru's words, meditating, doing seva to Guru.

Pots, one above the other represent the pyramid representation of our desires and knowledge. Desires reduce as we go Spiritual and the knowledge converges ultimately into the 'one’.

Swan represents the Guru's quality of being able to separate milk from water. Milk being the spiritual insight in the ordinariness of world, represented by water.

Couple represent the 'Yin'/'Yang'-female-male energy balanced in the Guru.

Sixth step- As per Hindu Mythology man has to take 84,000 janmas, lives, before taking birth as a human.

And his journey is represented by the various Avatars of Vishnu from Aquatic (matsya) life form to amphibian (koorma)- Varaha (lower animal form) pig- beast, Narasimha-Lion man, dwarf Vamana, powerful man yet driven by passions- Parasurama, stable and virtuous Rama, to super human form Sri Krishna, vairagya detachment Buddha hood and ultimately Kalki the future that would bring end to the cycle.

Seventh step - the final stage and the only purpose of life is realizing (Aham Brahmasmi), Thath thva masi- that which is I am.

This can be realized in three ways-

- Prema yoga marga - Path of Bhakthi and love - Represented by Radha-Krishna.

- Gnana marga - Shiva Shakthi represent this, in which we realize the truth.

- Karma marga - On all paths, the need which is common, is to control the senses - horses representing the senses here.

This way, when we remind ourselves of our illusions, Maya and the purpose of our life through the various rituals, the urgency to shift from ignorance to knowledge compel the practitioner to go within.

Hope you got an idea of the reasons behind arranging dolls during Navaratri. See you all in next post...!
