A boy with a fractured hand!

contd...

A boy with a fractured hand!

Happiness is a State of Mind! It can’t be a charity that is made by others. ‘Happiness’ is not a thing that can be bought, given or gifted by others to you.

It is a ‘state of Being’ and hence (unfortunately) in our hands ONLY.

Happiness can’t be purchased.

Happiness can’t be given away.

I purchased buildings, lands, diamonds etc etc – possible!

I purchased happiness – Not possible!

I am HAPPY – Possible if seen as a ‘state of being’ instead of seen as ‘action verb’

‘AM’ is a state of being, as state of existence and that is in our hands ONLY. If you are not happy, it has nothing to do with ‘the other or others’ (who so ever it b) in your life.

It has to do with your choice ONLY. It simply means ‘I chose to suffer’.

A boy with a fractured hand!

A boy with a fractured hand!

The other day I saw a boy of say 8-10years old with a fractured hand cycling happily with his friends with one hand. They were a group of 4-5 boys, chatting away to glory oblivious of this boy’s plight and fracture. Their laughter was infectious and the chatter so joyous. It was as if ‘the fracture’ didn’t exist for them!

I am sure you all have witnessed somewhat similar situations in your life sometime! (Please share at least one of those if you have)

Now what are the facts of this situation:

1. Boy was a small boy of just 8-10yrs.

2. He had a fractured hand.

That shows ‘painful situation’ was real! But the fact which was also true was –

1. All the boys were enjoying the time

2. They weren’t brooding over a small incident – they chose to not suffer and celebrate life and live life inspite of situations!

Classic example of ‘situation is real but suffering is optional’.

They were ‘happy’ as they chose to be happy. It was a choice – not a miracle bestowed by God or their Guru on them.

Poem by Neeraj – Jeevan jo katna tha kat gaya...

...contd.....

Poem by Neeraj – Jeevan jo katna tha kat gaya...

That set me thinking as I was looking at the body – oblivious to all the chatter happening around it. The ‘prana’ life which sustained it had left it and am sure wouldn’t want to linger around after being set free of this limitation called the body. It has broken the ‘shackles of confinement in this body’ and let itself loose and free.

Would it matter if its life was a good one or bad?

Did it wait to look at the balance sheet of this life?

It just moved on.

It lived and it let go when the time came.

It set itself free through a process called death.

It came, lived the way it chose to (good or bad, right or wrong) and then blended into the ‘Dao’ (Universal Energy) and yet the people assigned so many values to it. But to the spirit that lived and moved on, do these values make a difference, I wondered!

Do we analyse unnecessarily where we need to find an excuse to heal ourselves or to work on our way of living and attitudes? Why do we do it if we are doing it? Is it because analysing is easier than changing ourselves for better?

Now read the poem once again and may be you’ll understand it better. I have given the meaning of ‘hard words’ at the end of the poem for your ease and then get back to me.....

A Hindi poem by Shri. Neeraj

https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/search?q=neeraj

Poem by Neeraj – Jeevan jo katna tha kat gaya...

Attended a funeral once! The person was dead and lying still - but of course!

It was fascinating to see peoples’ reactions, comments and what not at that time. Maybe some were shocked. Maybe some talked out of fear (I don’t know what) and I assumed may be they liked the person (maybe) and so discounted most of their talks. But what was fascinating was the way ‘that person’s death’ was gauged and assessed by them. Each had his own understanding and point to put forth.

One said “so many people attending the funeral talks about the way that person had touched all these peoples’ lives. This is the ‘success and achievement of that person”.

Someone praised “such a big heart! Never went out of their house without eating”

“The day of death talks highly of this person’s good deeds” and so on and so forth.

(I am not giving all the talks but I am sure you got the idea)

On asking and creativity!

On asking  and creativity!

If you want to get something from someone how would you ask?

Let's say you want a gift from someone, how would you ask or how would you work to get it?

Who you are and who do you want to be?

Who you are and who do you want to be?

Men of genius are admired

Men of power are feared

Men of money envied

But only Men of character are trusted.

Who are the people (name atleast three) belonging to each category in your life and why?

A poem - Hindi poem on Life by One of the greatest poets of Hindi - Shri. Neeraj

This is one of my favourite poets excellent poem written in the most simple way - by way of expression. His writing is par excellence when 'simplicity' is to be considered. Most of his words are simple and all his poems look simple yet the meaning they convey is so profound. That is great work. Anyone can make simple thing look profound or flowery but to convey profound meaning through normal, simple every day words well, that calls for real clarity of thought.

जीवन कटना था, कट गया - Neeraj

(reeta - abhaav, something missing

patna - that which is to be paid, karz

risna - diya gaya hai, one that is given)

PS: If any of you find it difficult to understand please let me know, will translate it for you in English)
