In Crisis ..........

It's easy to talk about GOOD qualities and to preach about them........but to live them in the time of crisis.....that talks about the real character of the people and the country...
Any fool can be a hero when things are going straight...but only the crisis shows the person's real nature...how he /she reacts/responds to the situation talks about the way morality has been integrated in their character....

And that's exactly what Japan taught to the entire world while facing the natural calamity of this order.....

1. CALMNESS: Not a single visual of chest-beating or wild grief. Sorrow itself has been elevated

2. DIGNITY: Disciplined queues for water and groceries. No rough words or crude gestures.

3. ABILITY: The incredible architects. Buildings swayed but didn’t fall.

4. GRACE: People bought only what they needed for the present, so everybody got something.

5. ORDER: No looting in shops.

6. SACRIFICE: 50 workers stayed back to pump sea water in Nuclear reactors.

7. TENDERNESS: Restaurants cut prices. An unguarded ATM is left alone.

8. TRANING: The old and the children, every one knew exactly what to do and did just that.

9. MEDIA showed restraint. No silly news broadcast. Only calm reports.

In contrast to this look at the way we behave in our day-to-day issues........sometimes as simple as not getting tickets to the film, train et like.....

They - Japanese lived and are living a possibility during the crisis and telling us 'One can maintain one's calm and equipoise even in the time of intense pain and suffering and unpredictalbe future....

Are we to just admire them, forget and move on to lead our lives just the way we have been leading or will we take this opportunity to learn the art of maintaining emotional balance, integrity of character, looking beyond self and so more more from them.......

If Japanese can exhibit those qualities in such a crisis, it is possible for everyone of us! If not all, let us begin with atleast 'Grace', i.e, not to buy in bulk that is meant for everyone, stock and throw away a few days later!

The Japanese are taught / prepared for natural calamaties from a very young age.Their discipline and outlook shone through as a beacon for the rest of the world.... as we watched with shock as the tragedy unfolded. They showed the world what the qualities of boddhisatva truly are.
