Rituals and what they do to us...
A master would always ask his students to follow few rituals like going to temple, to pray and chant few mantras. One student who didn't like to follow the rituals asked his master "I've gone to temple for 30 years now and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 mantras. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and You as a Guru are wasting yours by giving services. Since no benefit is to come out of this, why not stop it altogether?"
The master smiled and replied "I've been married for 30 years now. During that time, my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this... They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to the Temple for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today"
Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!
WE don't know what we HAD till we LOSE it!
To acknowledge, validate, cherish and celebrate what we have, we should have 'gratitude, clarity of thought and above all heart that is full of love and is sans envy, hatred, fault finding nature and complaining attitude.........and this is gained bye and by through meditation....
So, sit upright and meditate right away...........
