Meditation

In the process that helps us to outgrow our limitations and to express our divinity, the one must do is ‘Meditate’.

What’s the way to meditate?

Don’t get confused with all the explanations in the name of meditation. Let’s go with the most easiest, natural and the effective way to meditate.

1. Select the most comfortable place and posture to meditate.
2. Ideally meditate daily at the same time and at the same place.
3. The best time to meditate would be early morning between 3-5 am.
4. If it is not possible select any other time suitable to you.
5. It’s preferred to have a special room if possible to meditate.
6. If not possible select a spot/ corner in the house for meditation.
7. Have a soft cushion to sit on.
8. Light Agarbathi – incense stick.
9. Declare that you are to meditate for next 15 mts to come.
10. Close your eyes.
11. Let Reiki be on.
12. Now – Just be with eyes closed.
13. You are to be silently watching the influx of thoughts that cross your mind.
14. Thoughts may come and thoughts may go. Don’t bother. Just be with silence.
15. Just observe the thoughts and just be.
16. Gently open your eyes after say 15 minutes.
17. Don’t bother if you open your eyes little less than 15 minutes.
18. Never put an alarm to remind you of the time.

Just remember, don’t try too hard to silence your thoughts.

Just observe your thoughts.

Don’t identify with them.

Don’t be judgemental.

Just observe your thoughts.

Practice this every day. That’s all!

As you get to put this into practice, I’ll go to write about the benefits of this simple exercise…..

The best Divine tool available to human kind to drop the “acquired self” i.e., ego and to express the “Divinity that is” is “Reiki”.

As we have come to understand that the various experiences in our life is nothing but the result of our ‘karma’ – we need to heal our ‘karma’ in order to re-write our destiny. The basis of ‘karma’ is ‘attitude’ and ‘lack of gratitude’ apart from ego. These can be healed or dropped with the various techniques taught in the Reiki sessions. Always remember to use more than one technique of healing on the daily basis. For example : Anger can be healed with hands on and re-birth meditation with ‘anger’. This would give faster and long lasting benefit than just one of the technique used.

Hands-on helps to heal the issue from the root cause and change the operating system of every individual. As and when we experience a situation we normally tend to react in a certain fashion. As every such incident, we more or less react the same way. After few times of conscious reaction, it becomes our operating system in that particular situation. That is to say, the body and the takes over the calculation part and reacts automatically. What started our emotions as a conscious act and somewhere down the line it has become the automatic system of operation.

For example I am in a hurry and I have just mopped the floor. Person A drops something like chocolate. I shout at him for being negligent because I have to mop it once more. And I am in a hurry and don’t have time to. I’ll be late to my appointment, so am angry. Next time, I am wearing a new and an expensive dress on a special occasion and a person in the party trips, his plate flies and lands right on my ‘special dress’. He’s spoiled my expensive dress and the day – I shout at him. Imagine couple of more of such incidents happening. Then, two friends talking and laughing on the road drop their ice-creams. They are laughing even at that. I GET ANGRY. I SAY I CAN’T STAND PEOPLE WHO THROW AROUND THINGS. IT SHOWS THEIR CARELESSNESS. Mind you, this time it had nothing to do with me. Yet, I am getting angry. Because ‘drop’ and ‘anger’ have become ‘cause’ and ‘effect’ to my ‘operating system’ called ego. This is exactly how we become automated beings of our system. Emotions start ruling us and we seem helpless when they just express through us.

To change this operating system, we need higher and Divine energies that can replace our present operating system with the newer one. This is where Reiki comes in. Practice of Reiki on the daily basis brings about a change in our basic nature and thereby we become pro-active persons instead of reactive beings.

Make a list of all the reiki techniques and use them in combination to see better and faster results over the period of time. As you make your list, let me go to write next post on how meditation helps in letting go of our ‘vikaras’ and helps us in expressing our higher self……..

The minister pulled himself up and started pulling the twine thread gently. After sometime, he could get hold of the rope. Holding the rope he got down the tower. He and his wife slipped out of the town in the silence of the night and lived happily ever after…….

How is this story related to our topic? The minister could save himself and could take care of his wife too out of a situation from which there seemed to be no way out. How?
As his name suggests, ‘Sthirabudhi’ – One whose intellect is ‘sthira’ or calm and poised was calm even in the time of emergency.

1. A calm mind can easily see the solution in the midst of chaos.

2. It takes a calm mind to take stock of the situation completely, weight the pros and cons of it and to think of the solution.

3. In case of emergency, usually we get agitated, tensed and worry a lot. Thereby we create new problems instead of finding a solution.

4. During tension, the number of thoughts that we generate is so much so that that itself blinds our clarity of thought.

How is pronayamam connected to calm mind and clarity of thought?

Observe yourself closely. We breathe slowly when we are calm and palpitate when we are tensed. That shows breathe and the state of mind are interrelated. The state of mind and the thoughts are interrelated. Pranayamam calms the breathe. It slows the breath. We become consciously aware of the breath and are able to regulate it. This simple exercise gives us an understanding bye and by that life moves on even when we are not aware of it. We need to just participate by being an observer of it.

Next, the regulated breath in turn slows the number of thoughts generated. Less the thoughts in our mind, more our mind is calmer. More our mind is calmer, less is the stress that we experience. Less stressed we are, more active and energetic we are. More active and energetic we are, more we can participate in life and thereby celebrate life completely. So, to live life to the fullest extent, pranayamam is the easiest and the most effective technique available on the face of earth.

Not to forget the physical wellness that comes with it. So many diseases that couldn’t be cured by the medical world have been cured with pranayamam. It betters our eye-sight too apart from the general health. Brings cheer to our personality and glow to our skin. Greying of hair is postponed or done away with by doing pronayamam. Try pranayamam to actually believe all this. Just for six months at a stretch. Not comfortable with it – then after six months just leave it. No Questions asked.

So why delay? Start right away while I write down next post….

pranayamam

Hopefully, you all have practiced ‘pranayamam’ and also enjoyed its benefits. Now, it’s time to understand how it will be useful in bringing about our well-being both physically and emotionally, in dropping our acquired self & understanding SELF ultimately.

Once in a town called ‘Simhapuri’ lived a minister called ‘Sthirabudhi’. One fine day, the king of that town ordered Sthirabudhi to be executed for some wrong he did not do. He was ordered to be imprisoned in a tower which did not have any staircase or possible way of escape. He was left to himself, as everyone felt he could not escape from that tower.

His wife came and cried her heart out. She knew her fate was sealed as her husband had no way to prove his innocence. Her husband shouted from the window in the tower “Don’t cry. Just follow what I am asking you to do and by God’s grace we both can go out of this town for good by tomorrow morn”. She was surprised. She asked how it was possible. He simple asked her to bring an ant, a small bottle of honey, a bundle of silk thread, a bundle of twine thread, a bundle of rope. She found it odd but bring she did.

When she brought it after couple of hours, Sthirabudhi asked her to tie a silk thread to the ant. The silk thread was tied to the twine thread and that to the rope. The antennae of the ant was dipped in honey. Now the ant was asked to be placed facing sky wards on the wall of the tower.

The ant moved forward longing for honey. The silk thread moved along with it. When the ant went near the window, the minister untied the ant from the silk thread, held it and pulled it gently till he could get hold of the twine thread……..

It took long time and he was tired a bit, so took some rest,

We’ll also take some rest and come back in the next post to see what happens….

Pranayamam should be done atleast 15 mts/day preferably the same time. Deep breathe-in and breathe-out technique can be done at any part of the day – say few times to remind the system the right way of breathing.

For this, sit in a comfortable place. Early morning is ideal. Otherwise, any part of the day is fine but should be done after 2 hrs of taking meal.

Procedure is :

- Relax. Close your eyes.
- Breathe in very very slowly. As slowly as you can.
- Hold the breathe for few seconds.
- Now exhale as slowly as possible.
- Do this for atleast 15 mts / day.

Initially, one would be able to take in air only till lungs may be. But, no issues. Remember, over the period of time the air should reach the abdomen.

After doing it for 15 mts, feel the calmness that engulfs you. Don’t hurry to open your eyes. You’ll be engulfed by the silence from within. Be with it. Enjoy it till it lasts – say 10 mts or so. And then, rub your palms on your eyes, forehead and very gently open your eyes. Feel the calmness that fills you. Observe the difference this has made in your entire day.

Do it daily to actually feel the difference in your physical well-being, emotional well-being and internal calmness that seems to envelop you all through the day…..

Be with it till I write further posts……
